I have always looked at the world through a creative lens. From a very young girl, I have been drawn to capture the pieces of life that move me so deeply; with music, poetry, drawing and painting.
Discovering the world of Photoshop, I have found a place where I can combine my “tools” of expression, drawing out the emotion of the beauty that I find so compelling. Many times- my photographs capture the vision and the feeling that led me to take the picture… But often- I take out things that don’t “belong” in my vision- or add things from my countless folders of photographs that I have taken- of trees, flowers, rivers, sky, clouds… forests etc. Often, I start with a blank file- using pieces of my photographs as my paintbrush, to “paint” the pictures I create.
“Vicki Lea works with her photographs, but I would not call her simply a photographer. A “digital painter” would be a better term to describe what she does with her photographs to create majestic, magical scenes on canvas. Vicki Lea usually has her camera ready wherever she goes, and she takes many trips to Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England (to name a few) to gather thousands of reference photos to create a world of beauty. But taking the photos is only the beginning of her creative process. Her final product, the meticulously composed scenes she prints on canvas, comes from her imagination and are almost too ideal to believe…. Seeing- IS believing”. Taken from an article by Jim Lawrence
