My art starts with the amazement of our natural world; specifically the plants, creatures and trees that we identify with in our unique environment. Most of my work has been painted while sitting in awe and joy, mostly among the sweet waters in my homelands of Chico, but also in very different environments ranging from the coast of Brazil, altitudes of Perú and some of the great cities of Europe.
After many years of exploring with a small bag of paint brushes and a huge tote of collage treasures, I have finally found a great sense of permanence in my artistic process as I have returned to my hometown of Chico and established a solid place to create. My current studio is in the sunny front room of my house in the Barber neighborhood.
My current approach to painting involves a process of layering strokes of color compositions in a chromatic continuum, making for a playful meditation on color. Above all, my art is a process of connecting with the beauty, patience and magic of what is inside and all around us.
