First, I was a painter interested in the rhythm and energy of a painting. Then, I was an animator fascinated with telling a story that takes place over time. Now, I’m an animator who paints. This has led to my most recent work, a single painting which consists of a sequence of images describing a simple moment in time.
What you’ll see at my Studio Tour is some older work. This includes paintings, drawings, handmade paper designs, and even some computer art created with a plotter pen. I’ll also be showing more recent work created while working as Chair of the Animation Program at the California College of the Arts.
You’re invited to stop by during the Open Studio Art Tour to talk about my work, my process, or artwork in general. I can also be contacted for an appointment at rvertolli@cca.edu.
I look forward to meeting you.
Cheers,
-Rick
