Kandis Horton-Jorth

I’m a Chico-based mixed-media artist who incorporates my love of travel, found objects, paper, and photography into multiple incarnations. At my core, I’m a collector: whether it’s photographs I’ve taken, odd finds at yard sales, or scraps of paper. I hold onto things that are typically discarded, painted over, walked by, or headed to the landfill. I feel these items and images have a story attached, and often I might be the last stop before they’re permanently discarded. These items show up in my art as shadow boxes, layered mixed media paintings, and altered books.
